Dell Goodwin serves as the Director of Personnel Services for Dothan City Schools. In this role she ensures the implementation of board policies and procedures and oversees the personnel functions for the District. Goodwin believes in keeping the human in human resources. In her previous roles, Goodwin served as Personnel Officer, Director of Elementary Curriculum Services, Program Specialist, and as a Special Education Teacher.

Born in Camden, Alabama, Goodwin graduated from Wilcox County High School and earned a bachelor's in special education, a master's in special education and administration, and an educational specialist degree from Troy State University. Goodwin earned her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Sarasota. She is a proud graduate of public schools and has received her teaching certificates from Alabama.

During her career, Goodwin has been active both professionally and civically. Goodwin has held several offices in the Alabama Association of School Administrators including the president of the Alabama Association of School Personnel Administrators and currently serves on the board of directors for the American Association or Schools Administrators. Goodwin has also served as a state trainer for the Professional Education Personnel Evaluation system. Goodwin has been an active Rotarian, United Way Board member, American Cancer Society board member, Life South Wiregrass Region Advisory board member, and the Dothan-Houston County Mental Retardation board member and currently serves on these boards. In addition she has been a member of the Dothan Education Foundation Board, Economic Development committee, Dothan Education Association, American Cancer Society, Delta Kappa Gamma Society, and Yes We Can.

Goodwin is a member of Covenant United Methodist Church.  An important aspect of her life is family, including her husband (thirty-eight years) one daughter and one son (both in business with their father) and one adorable granddaughter. Goodwin's interests are broad and varied. When she in not working, she loves to read, to travel, to go to the beach, spend time with family, and to learn. Goodwin believes we should provide our children and our society with the best education we can.
