GIS Media Center Guidelines
The purpose of the Girard Intermediate School library is to provide a variety of resources – to support programs; to help services in a variety of media; to meet the needs of individuals in the print industry, and to provide resources just for leisure reading or recreation.
Classes visit the Media Center on a fixed rotation and the schedule allows additional time for flexibility. Students will be introduced to library skills, literary skills, and digital citizenship. Students follow the Girard Way while in the Media Center. Expectations for behavior in the Media Center is for students to walk to the designated area, follow directions, and to treat others with kindness and respect.
Students are on a “One Two Three” behavior plan. The first time is a warning, the second time a warning and the third time the media specialist will call home.
Students may check out two books at a time for a two week period.
Teachers and students are encouraged to suggest books to be added to the library collection.
