Notice of Vacancy in the position of Superintendent of Education
The Dothan City Board of Education is accepting applications for the position of Superintendent of Education for Dothan City Schools. The City of Dothan is the largest city in southeast Alabama, and is a cultural, recreational, retail, and medical hub for the surrounding area. The Dothan City School System serves approximately 8,200 preschool age through twelfth-grade students who reside in the City of Dothan.

Southeast Gas Announces 2021 Give Back to Schools
Southeast Gas recently announced its 2021 Give Back to Schools contribution of almost $109,000 to 20 public school systems in Alabama. Dothan City Schools received $5,190 this year and Houston County Schools received $5,580. The Give Back to Schools initiative was established by Southeast Gas and its Board of Directors in 2010, and provides dollars to public schools based solely on their natural gas usage for the previous year. So, the more natural gas a school system uses, the more dollars that system will receive.

Dothan Technology Center Students Build Showers of Blessings
The Showers of Blessings project was a collaborative effort across different concentrations at Dothan Technology. Students from programs like Building Construction, Graphic Arts, Welding, Engineering, and Education and Training came together to partner with Grandview Baptist Church and The Harbor to create a place that will serve the homeless community by providing more showers for more people in less time.

Kelly Springs Students Place Third in South Region in 2020 Alabama Stock Market Game
Kelly Springs Elementary School who recently placed Third Overall in the South Division of the Alabama Stock Market Game (SMG). Kelly Springs had 13 teams who participated and two of those teams placed in the Top 5.

Area leaders tour Wallace-Dothan facilities
Leaders from around the Wiregrass stopped by Wallace Community College-Dothan (WCCD) on Tuesday, December 1, to tour the facilities and learn more about what the College has to offer students. The structure behind the group is a welding simulator, designed and constructed by the welding program, to simulate the workplace environment for future welders.

March 2021 MeetingsDue to the COVID-19 public health concern, the Dothan City Board of Education will hold their Board Meetings through ZOOM Webinar as well as limited capacity public viewing at the Dothan City Board of Education, Board Room, 1665 Honeysuckle Road, Suite 1.
Per ADPH Risk Indicators, the Dothan City Board of Education meetings will adhere to the following capacity limitations for in-person numbers at the board meeting while observing social distancing and wearing masks: Green - Low Risk - Groups of 90 or fewer pertaining to the Board Room; Yellow - Moderate Risk - Groups of 50 or fewer; Orange - High Risk - limited to 20 outside visitors by appointment only; and Red - Very High Risk - no outside visitors allowed in the building. Participants may still view the meeting via ZOOM webinar. Those who have made prior notification to participate on the agenda will remain on the in-person agenda.
Board Meetings will be held in this manner until further notice.
