Diploma Pathway: Option B

In April 2024, the Workforce Pathway Act was approved which prompted the Alabama State Department of Education to amend the Alabama Administrative Code regarding possible diploma pathways to earning a high school diploma.

The public school students in Alabama have two diploma pathways to choose from in order to earn their high school diploma. The first is called Option A and is considered the Traditional Pathway while the second is called the Workforce Diploma Pathway or Option B. The Workforce Pathway - Option B aims to provide enhanced academic and skilled trade opportunities for Alabama students. Please see the table below for the difference between the two pathways for Dothan City Schools.

  • What career tech programs are offered at my school?
  • Is there time to switch back to Option A if needed?
