The IB Primary Years Programme

  • We are excited to announce that Girard Intermediate School is entering our second year as a candidate school for the PYP. This school is pursuing authorization as an IB World School. These are schools that all share a common philosophy- a commitment to a high quality, challenging, international education that Girard Intermediate School believes is important for our students.

The mission of an IB school is to develop responsible citizens in a global community developing inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

The International Baccalaureate (IB) instructional approach reflects real life by encouraging learning within and beyond traditional subjects with meaningful, in-depth inquiries into relevant local, community, and worldwide issues. Learning opportunities provide for individual and collaborative planning and research, and a strong foundation for lifelong learning, as well as encouraging community service, action, and reflection.

We are committed to implementing the PYP Programme and working to make Girard Intermediate School. We look forward to benefiting your child and their future in the globalized world that awaits them.
