Dennis Coe, Ed. D - Superintendent

Dr. Dennis Coe has led an impressive career of over 35 years working in education. Dr. Dennis Coe has been honored and recognized across the State for his achievements, including as a finalist for School Superintendents of Alabama Superintendent of the Year Finalist in 2010 and 2012. 

Prior to his role with Dothan City Schools, Coe served as the Chief Operating Officer for Dothan City Schools. Coe is a graduate of Dale County High School, Wallace Community College, and Troy State University. Coe earned his Educational Doctorate from Alabama State University in 2016. Coe’s professional career in education began in 1988 as a high school biology, anatomy, and physiology teacher and football and baseball coach at Dale County High School until 1992. Following Dale County, Coe worked as a Houston County High School teacher for three years and as Houston County Schools’ Technology Specialist for four years. He continued his career in education as the Assistant Principal of Headland Elementary School from 2001-2004. In 2005, Dr. Coe was elected as the Superintendent of Education for Henry County Schools, where he served until 2012. Before joining Dothan City Schools, Coe also served as the Director of the Office of Supporting Programs for the Alabama State Department of Education, the interim Superintendent for Crenshaw County Schools, and an Educational Consultant for Criterion Consulting.

Coe is married to Dede Crews Coe of Headland, Alabama, and lives in Dothan. They are parents to one daughter and grandparents to two grandchildren.
