In Partnership with Fearless Leadership Academy

The Superintendent's Student Advisory Council is a district leadership initiative designed to elevate student voice while preparing students to become confident, ethical, and engaged leaders. 

Through a partnership with Fearless Leadership Academy, selected students from grades 7–12 will participate in a year-long leadership development experience focused on communication, decision-making, civic engagement, personal leadership, and community involvement.

Each month, students will participate in professionally facilitated leadership sessions that combine interactive learning, leadership discussions, and conversations with community leaders from across the Wiregrass. 

The Superintendent's Student Advisory Council provides students with opportunities to:

● Strengthen their leadership skills

● Develop confidence in communicating and representing others

● Build relationships with peers from across the district

● Learn from local leaders and professionals

● Develop a deeper understanding of servant leadership and civic responsibility

● Serve as student ambassadors for Dothan City Schools

The goal is to equip students with the knowledge, confidence, and character needed to lead both within their schools and throughout the community.

About Fearless Leadership Academy:

Fearless Leadership Academy is a leadership development organization dedicated to equipping students with the confidence, character, and leadership skills needed to thrive in school, in their communities, and beyond. Through interactive leadership experiences, experiential learning, and strategic partnerships with school districts, Fearless Leadership Academy empowers young people to lead with purpose, integrity, and service.

What is the Superintendent's Student Advisory Council?

• The Superintendent's Student Advisory Council, in partnership with Fearless Leadership Academy, is a leadership development program that brings together student leaders from across Dothan City Schools to strengthen leadership skills, elevate student voice, and encourage civic engagement.

Who facilitates the program?

• The program is facilitated by Fearless Leadership Academy, Dothan City Schools' leadership development partner.

Who may participate?

• Students in grades 7–12 who are selected through the district's application process.

When does the program meet?

• The Council meets approximately once each month throughout the school year. A complete calendar will be provided after students are selected.

What will students learn?

• Students will participate in leadership experiences focused on:

Will students miss class?

• Meeting times are scheduled for after school, however any school-related absences will follow district procedures and will be communicated in advance by Dothan City Schools.

Is there a cost to participate?

• No. There is no cost for selected students to participate.

Will photographs be taken?

• Yes. Student photographs may be taken during program activities and may be used by Dothan City Schools and/or Fearless Leadership Academy for educational and promotional purposes in accordance with district media policies.

What is expected of students?

• Students are expected to:
  • Attend monthly sessions regularly
  • Participate actively
  • Demonstrate leadership and professionalism
  • Respect fellow participants
  • Represent their schools positively
