Carver School for Math, Science, and Technology Celebrates Success in Perennial Math Competition
DOTHAN, Ala. – The Carver School for Mathematics, Science, and Technology is thrilled to announce that two exceptional groups at the school have qualified for the National Championship with Perennial Math.
This recognition is a monumental achievement for the school, marking the first time Carver MST has advanced to this level of competition. Under the dedicated leadership of Mrs. Suzanne Richards, third graders from the Rookies team and the fifth graders from the Intermediate team have demonstrated outstanding performance throughout the year.
“I am very excited about our students moving on to the National Championship, this is the first time a team has advanced to this level, and I cannot wait to watch them compete as a group,” said Suzanne Richards, Carver MST math coach. She leads the Perennial Math teams at the school.
These two groups recently qualified and will be representing Carver at the National Championships this month. The championships promise a thrilling experience where teams from across the nation will come together to showcase their mathematical prowess in live, interactive competitions. These events will be hosted virtually where teams will face off, entering their answers in a live scoring site. Winners will be announced on Facebook at the conclusion of the event.
“Dothan City Schools extends our congratulations to the students who participated and the teams that have qualified in this mathematical competition,” said Dr. Dennis Coe, Dothan City Schools Superintendent. “It recognizes these students’ hard work, and this level of achievement exemplifies Carver MST’s dedication to the success of these students. We look forward to cheering them on as they compete on a national stage this month!”
Chris Payne, Carver MST Principal, also praised these impressive students. "I am incredibly proud of the dedication these mathletes have shown through their practice and participation in monthly competitions,” he said. “Their achievement is a testament to the hard work not only of the students but also of Coach Mrs. Richards, their Carver Math teachers, and the support from their parents. We are very excited about the upcoming National Championships!"
