Information poster pertaining to upcoming school day closures

DOTHAN, Ala. – The administration at Dothan City Schools continues to receive information from the National Weather Service and the Dothan-Houston County EMA regarding a possible winter weather event for southeast Alabama. Over the weekend, the administration has been briefed on weather forecasts and the most likely scenario for our area this week.

The weather event seems likely to cause impacts to area roadways. Travel is expected to become hazardous, and DCS transportation services would be impacted. As always, the safety of students and staff is of utmost concern. Superintendent Dennis Coe has remained in contact with surrounding school districts regarding these potential weather implications.

Therefore, Dothan City Schools will be closed Tuesday, Jan. 21 and Wednesday, Jan. 22.

DCS anticipates a return to normal operations on Thursday, Jan. 23, but updates may become necessary.

Note: The Wolves basketball game scheduled for Tuesday evening has been postponed.  Also, the Dothan City Schools Board of Education meeting has been moved to Thursday evening at 5:30pm.

Reminder: Dothan City Schools are closed Monday (Jan. 20) for the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.

Please continue to follow Dothan City Schools’ social media and the district website for future updates.
