District's Strategic Planning Process Set to Begin
DOTHAN, Ala. – As a way to move the district forward, the Dothan City Schools district periodically gathers stakeholders to create a strategic plan. The plan involves a process by which DCS develops a roadmap for the next five years by keeping in mind the district’s core mission and vision for the future.
On Thursday, Jan. 30, a steering committee made up of both internal and external stakeholders from across the district will begin the strategic planning process for Dothan City Schools. The steering committee will convene a meeting including students, school administrators, educators, and community partners to examine priority goals for the district.
The committee is tasked with developing an updated five-year plan with a focus on academic achievement, quality teachers, school safety, transportation, technology, and fiscal responsibility.
In its effort to also enlist engagement, the DCS Strategic Planning Committee will soon provide an online survey, inviting parents to give feedback that may be helpful in developing district goals and strategies. The online survey will be sent to parents by email, and a link will be provided on the Dothan City Schools website between February 11-25. The district strongly urges participation.
The district’s strategic plan helps ensure accountability and operational effectiveness. The plan is meant to prepare DCS students and employees for excellence while providing an intentional school district decision-making playbook over the next five years.
