Dothan City Schools Remain Closed Thursday, Jan. 23
DOTHAN, Ala. – Following the unprecedented snow event that moved through the region Tuesday, the administration at Dothan City Schools has been briefed by the National Weather Service, the Dothan-Houston County EMA, school transportation services, and other stakeholders to determine the best course of action for school operations.
Superintendent Dr. Dennis Coe has been in contact with superintendents from the surrounding school districts. The snowfall was widespread and impacted the entire region. The cold temperatures have not allowed the snow to melt effectively. Roadways remain hazardous for our families and DCS transportation services. Safety of everyone remains the most important aspect in the aftermath of this winter storm.
Therefore, in collaboration with other districts, Dothan City Schools will remain closed on Thursday, Jan. 23.
A decision regarding Friday operations will be determined by Thursday afternoon. We advise parents, students, and staff to continue to check Dothan City Schools’ communication channels for future updates. Thank you for your understanding, and please stay safe.
