Dothan High Student Receives Scholarship from Southeast Gas
DOTHAN, Ala. – Southeast Gas has been a long-standing partner of Dothan City Schools, providing funds for district projects while awarding various scholarships to some of the district’s most deserving students. On Thursday, Southeast Gas honored a Dothan High School senior set to graduate in a few weeks.
Paden Wood was one of 25 students to receive a $1,500 Southeast Gas Community Service Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded to students who have demonstrated a genuine commitment to community service and those who strive to make a positive impact on the world. The award also recognizes Wood’s tremendous leadership qualities while at DHS.
“Dothan City Schools is proud of all of our high school seniors, and we applaud Paden Wood on his tremendous accomplishments as a student in our district,” Dr. Dennis Coe, Dothan City Schools Superintendent explained. “He embodies the qualities that we hope all Dothan Wolves aspire to be by making our community a better place. Our appreciation goes out to Southeast Gas for continuing to recognize our deserving students year after year.”
Scholarships were announced Thursday at Troy University. Dothan High Principal, Dr. Keith Bland, joined Wood at the ceremony.
“The heart of Southeast Gas is service,” said Southeast Gas President and CEO Greg Henderson. “When we established the Community Service Scholarship 10 years ago, we had an idea of the impact it could have on students across Southeast Alabama. What surprised us, in a good way, was the immeasurable impact that the service of THESE STUDENTS has had on their communities. I am extremely proud of the work they are doing and the small way we are recognizing them for their enormous accomplishments.”
In February, two schools in the district were proud recipients of Southeast Gas donations. The company awarded Selma Street Elementary School and Carver School for Mathematics, Science, and Technology with sizable contributions as part of its 2025 Give Back to Schools initiative.
The company provides natural gas service to 36 communities throughout southeast Alabama. Southeast Gas is owned by 14 cities in the area, including Dothan.
