IMPORTANT UPDATE: Dothan City Schools to Remain Closed Friday
DOTHAN, Ala. – Local city leaders advise many slick areas remain on area roadways. Dothan City Schools’ administration has remained in contact with Dothan Houston County EMA and City of Dothan leadership throughout the course of the winter weather event. While melting has occurred, a concern for black ice will continue Friday morning, causing hazardous travel. Those conditions are being seen today in many parts of Dothan and Houston County.
The safety of our students, families, and staff are of utmost concern. Due to the concern from local officials, Superintendent Dennis Coe has remained in contact with superintendents with surrounding districts, and he has provided an update..
After careful consideration, it is prudent for Dothan City Schools to remain closed Friday, Jan. 24. The closure Friday will allow all winter weather concerns to end before school operations can return to normal. Dothan City Schools' administration expects a return to a normal schedule on Monday, Jan. 27
Note: Dothan High School will now hold its scheduled Virtual Day on Monday, January 27.
