New Bee Project at Carver School for Math, Science and Technology Underway

Bees inside a hive surrounded by glass

Carver was buzzing with excitement Thursday -- it was BEE DAY! The school was awarded a grant to host bees for student observation and research through a hands-on science lab.

On Thursday, Carver MST's partner beekeeper installed the bees for viewing. Mrs. McClenny, the school's science lab instructor has been attending beekeeper training in order to teach students and safely handle caring for the bees while on our campus. This hive will help students visualize and learn the life cycle of a bee, as well as, gain an understanding of the roles each bee plays to support the hive’s development.

This project will teach students how bees help sustain our environment. Students will gain knowledge in science lab and through gardening projects to better understand the vital role bees play in pollinating our fruit and vegetable gardens. The knowledge is essentially limitless! The bee project is just the latest adventure at the district's Blue Ribbon school!
