Dothan City Schools Honors Dr. Sam Nichols
The Dothan City Schools family is deeply saddened at the passing of Dr. Sam Nichols, former superintendent. Dr. Nichols was a kind and faithful servant to many in Dothan and served with distinction in his role as superintendent from 2005 through 2011. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Nichols family.

Dothan City Schools is proud to announce that Heard Elementary School is a 2021-2022 National Beta School of Merit. The school earned this recognition by offering National Beta to all eligible grades on their campus. National Junior Beta includes grades 4-8 and National Senior Beta includes grades 9-12.

Dothan High School Senior, Michelle McCleod, named National Merit Scholar
A senior at Dothan High School has been named a Scholar in the 67th Annual National Merit Scholarship Program and has accepted a National Merit Scholarship Award from the University of Alabama. Michelle McCleod was among 16,000 Semifinalists nationwide who will had the opportunity to compete for some $30 million in scholarships.

The Rotary Club of Dothan, Alabama and Dothan City Schools is pleased to announce the winners of its annual Menace of Addiction speech contest for grades 10, 11, 12 students at Dothan High School and Dothan City Virtual School as well as the annual Four-Way Test essay contest for seventh, eighth and ninth grade students at Dothan Preparatory Academy and Carver 9th Grade Academy.

Southeast Gas recently announced its 2022 Give Back to Schools contribution of $148,000 to 20 public school systems in Alabama. Dothan City Schools received $14,566 and Houston County Schools received $12,573 this year.
