Superintendent's Awards of Excellence
Recently, Dothan City Schools named their Superintendent’s Award of Excellence for DCS employees who go above and beyond the call of duty.
Awardees were Sheryl McNeil, Front Office Secretary for The Carver School for Mathematics, Science, and Technology, Jimmy Baker, Second Grade Teacher for Selma Street Elementary, Alicia Hales, Exceptional Student Services Supervisor and Ricky Laseter, Custodian at Heard Elementary School.
Front Office Secretary - The Carver School for Mathematics, Science, and Technology
Mrs. McNeil has been an employee of Dothan City Schools for over 20 years and has served as the Front Office Secretary for The Carver School for Math, Science, and Technology for 10 years. In her nomination, Mrs. McNeil was noted as being one of the kindest, most patient individuals you will ever meet. She always greets visitors with a welcoming smile and a pleasant attitude. She is the epitome of top-notch customer service.
2nd Grade Teacher - Selma Street Elementary School
Mr. Baker has been an employee of Dothan City Schools for about 10 years. In his nomination, Mr. Baker was noted as going above and beyond to help with any concerns, questions, and resources which have made it easy when helping implement the EL curriculum at Selma Street.
Supervisor - Exceptional Student Services
Mrs. Hales has been an employee of Dothan City Schools for about 14 years. In her nomination, Mrs. Hales was noted as a wonderful supervisor to all employees who seek her guidance and knowledge. She assists, not only all Special Education Teachers in the system, but she helps General Education Teachers, Principals, Psychometrists, Speech Therapists, Behavioral Aides and contracted personnel to provide the very best for our students with what resources she has available. She has a wide knowledge base with her General Education and School Psychometry experience, so she seems to be able to relate to those reaching out for answers.
Custodian - Heard Elementary School
Mr. Laseter has been an employee of Dothan City Schools for 13 years. In his nomination, Mr. Laseter was noted as a very caring dedicated crew member at Heard Elementary School. He is an inspiration to everyone he comes in contact with. Mr. Laseter also believes in serving others and enjoys his job and takes it very seriously while staying busy improving Heard’s campus each and every day. We also wish Mr. Laseter a very happy retirement as he will be retiring from Dothan City Schools after 13 dedicated years.
