Congratulations to Dr. Chambers, District 2 MS Principal of the Year
Dr. Donnie Chambers, principal of Carver Magnet School for Mathematics, Science, and Technology, has been named District 2 Middle School Principal of the Year.
Dr. Chambers has worked in education for 18 years. He was a classroom teacher for 12 years that taught courses ranging from AHSGE remediation to Advanced Placement Physics at Honeysuckle Middle School, Northview High School, and Dothan High School, all located in Dothan, Alabama. From 2011-2015, he served as an assistant principal at Dothan High and was in charge of curriculum and Federal Programs. Since 2015, Dr. Chambers has been principal at Carver Magnet School for Mathematics, Science, and Technology. During his tenure, Carver has made significant academic improvement as measured by the ACT Aspire. The area of greatest improvement has been mathematics. For the 2017-2018 school year, Carver 6th grade ranked #2 in the state overall (increase of 22%), #1 for African American students (increase of 38%), and #1 for poverty students (increase of 23%). Carver 7th grade ranked #1 overall in the state (increase of 41%), #1 for African American students (increase of 57%), and #1 for poverty students (increase of 60%).
